What Makes the Seychelles the Best Islands in Africa and the Middle East?

"It is like you are in the Garden of Eden," said one Travel + Leisure reader about the Seychelles, an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean.

Exotic plants and wildlife, including indigenous Seychelles black parrots and towering palms, also make this destination a standout. It should come as no surprise that travelers gave the Seychelles top marks for natural attractions and beaches. (Many of the secluded, pristine stretches of sand are accessible only by private yacht.)

In our annual World's Best Awards survey, travelers consider a number of factors when voting for the best islands on the planet, including activities and sights, food, friendliness, and overall value.

And the Seychelles also wowed T+L readers with its celebrity visitors (Prince William and Kate Middleton honeymooned here, as did George and Amal Clooney) and the islands' off-the-charts luxury resorts.

It's hard to improve on the 30 massive villas at Six Senses Zil Pasyon, all of which have private infinity pools, or the forthcoming Four Seasons resort on the private Desroches Island, which will have a mix of beach suites and villas.
