Accra, June 7, GNA - Ghana's leading domestic and regional airline, Africa World Airlines, is partnering the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to promote the Destination Ghana initiative on the international tourism market.
The partnership will start with the hosting of the Chinese tour operators and travel writers in Accra by the GTA and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
A statement from GTA and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the airline was determined to partner the GTA to drive both domestic and international tourism.
It said the airline was facilitating the travel of the Chinese tourists and officers of the GTA to Kumasi where they would be the guest of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during the Akwasidae Festival at the Manhyia Palace.
"The Familiarisation tour will also help promote Ghana as the preferred tourism destination in West Africa to the Chinese outbound market," it said.
The statement said China was the country with the highest tourism expenditure in the world with 27 billion dollars, and expressed the hope that this would make an inroad into the Chinese outbound tourism market.
