Ghanaian leader John Dramani Mahama has assured air-travelers that aviation fuel would be reduced by 20 percent to help reduce the cost of patronising airlines.

He said the move was to help make Ghana a preferred destination for airlines and aviation in West Africa.

President Mahama made this known when he inaugurated a seven-storey building for the Ghana Civil Aviation Training Academy in Accra on Monday."Our vision is to make Ghana the preferred aviation hub in West Africa", he added.

The President therefore charged the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to to collaborate effectively with the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) to help government to achieve its vision of making Ghana the preferred destination for airlines.

The Director General of GCAA, Simon Allotey, said strategies were being developed to improve infrastructural and human capacity to enable Ghana achieve this objective.
